6229 Black Spiked Frame Hinge – Rapid Snap-Fit Picture Frame Hardware
The 6229 Black Spiked Frame Hinge is purpose-built for picture frame manufacturers who need fast, reliable corner or mid-edge joining without screws or clamps. The barbed spike tabs penetrate frame moulding with a single press, locking the two panels together in under two seconds per hinge.
Spike Tab Technology
Eight directional barbed tabs (four per leaf) are stamped at opposing angles to prevent pull-out in both axial and lateral directions. Once seated, the 6229 Black Spiked Frame Hinge withstands over 50N pull-out force per leaf in standard 18mm MDF moulding.
Specifications
Width: 14mm | Height: 27mm | Depth: 6mm (spike profile) | Hole diameter: 10mm (large viewing cutout) | Material: 0.6mm cold-rolled steel | Weight: 1.9g | Finish: Matte Black
Installation Process
Place both panels face-down on a flat surface. Position the hinge over the joint, ensure spikes are aligned with the moulding edge, then strike the hinge body once with a rubber mallet. Inspect that all spike tabs are fully seated before releasing.
Applications
High-volume picture frame joining, canvas stretcher bar assembly, MDF panel partitioning, display cabinet back-panel attachment, and lightweight door-stop hardware.
Comparing 6229 Black and Silver Variants
The 6229 is available in both black (T06) and silver (T07) finishes. Choose black for dark-toned or walnut frames; silver for natural wood or white-painted frames. Both variants share identical mechanical specifications.
