6241 Black Large Spiked Frame Hinge – Heavy-Duty Structural Frame Hardware
The 6241 Black Large Spiked Frame Hinge stands as the flagship of XKY Framing’s spiked hinge range. At 38mm tall and manufactured from 0.7mm cold-rolled steel, this hinge provides the bearing surface and spike penetration depth required for large-format picture frames, gallery canvases, and structural partition panels.
Heavy-Gauge Construction
The 0.7mm steel used in the 6241 is the thickest in the spiked hinge series, resisting deformation under dynamic loads such as wall vibration, shipping impacts, and repeated gallery rehang operations. At 6.7g per unit, it remains light relative to its impressive 24×38mm bearing area.
Specifications
Width: 24mm | Height: 38mm | Hole diameter: 13mm | Upper spike span: 15mm | Spike depth: 6mm | Material: 0.7mm cold-rolled steel | Weight: 6.7g | Finish: Matte Black
Installation for Large Frames
Two 6241 hinges placed at equal thirds along the frame back provide optimal load distribution for frames up to 80cm on the longest side. For very large frames (over 100cm), four hinges are recommended. Drive with a wooden mallet; a rubber mallet may not generate sufficient force for the 0.7mm spike tabs.
Applications
Large oil canvas frames, oversized gallery prints, architectural panel joins, heavy display boards, mirror frames, and structural wall-mounted art installations.
Comparison Across the 62xx Series
The 6241 is the largest in the 62xx spiked series. For comparison: 6220 (T05) is 13×16mm at 1.4g; 6229 Black (T06) is 14×27mm at 1.9g; 6234 (T08) is 18×28mm at 2.9g; and the 6241 tops out at 24×38mm at 6.7g, offering the most coverage for demanding applications.
